Professor Selo is  a macroeconomist working on issues related to social security, aging, and fiscal sustainability.  His most recent research has  focused on the Japanese economy partly because Japan has been aging much earlier than other advanced economies and therefore serves as a laboratory for monetary and fiscal responses to aging.

Selo has received his B.S. and M.S. in Economics from the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkiye, and his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
